
THE FACTS ABOUT VESSEL SAFETY CHECKS
1. Am I required by law to get a Vessel Safety Check?
No. Participation in this program is voluntary.
2. If my boat doesn't pass inspection will I receive a
citation?
No. A report will be given to you outlining the
deficiencies found. It is up to you to decide weather or not
to clear the deficiencies. No copy of the report is given to
any law enforcement agency or insurance carrier.
3. Will the Auxiliary charge me to re-inspect my
boat?
No. Simply let us know when and where we can
re-inspect your vessel and we will do it for free.
4. Is there an advantage for me in have my boat
inspected?
Yes. You will have the peace of mind knowing that your
vessel has measured up to the Coast Guards standards for
safety. You will display the Coast Guard Vessel Safety Check
Decal showing that you take boating safety seriously and
have complied with all applicable Federal and State
requirements. |
The Auxiliary conducts free safety
checks on recreational boats relative
to the Federal and State regulations for required equipment
and safety condition of the vessel.
